Philippe Kalaf – Director – North American Operations
Aside from his role as Director at Collabora, which involves everything from HR to ordering the stationery and running the finances, Philippe is also lead developer/designer on Farsight, the Audio/Video conferencing framework.

Having spent much of his career in open source, Philippe is a firm believer in it, seeing it as offering a massive improvement in the software development process as a whole. Philippe is excited to see that the industry is showing more and more interest in open source software and open source software developers, as it allows Collabora to share its knowledge with more traditional programmers.

Philippe wants to drive Collabora on to become a major open source consultancy firm, believing that open source will become the mainstream software development process, which will in turn position Collabora as a major software consultancy firm in the industry. His ambitions are not just for Collabora though, as he feels that ‘the more we grow, the more open source hackers we can put on the payroll to just do open source software’.

Robert McQueen – Director – European Operations
Robert McQueen is Collabora’s other director, and is also the project lead and architect of Telepathy, a major open source project which aims to develop a real-time communications framework for the desktop and embedded devices.

Rob is another strong advocate of open source, believing it to be a superior way of approaching software development. The amount already achieved within open source, with its hundreds of active projects and diversity of software available, is possible thanks to developers being willing to give a little back to the community. Rob is proud of Collabora’s role within this and is an ardent admirer of the quality and innovation he finds in the community.
