Gran Canaria Desktop Summit

Collabora often brings more than half the company to GUADEC, the yearly GNOME conference. In 2009, GUADEC combined with the KDE conference Akademy to bring together desktop developers for both systems in Gran Canaria.  More than thirty Collaborans attended, and several gave talks.

More archives are at the GCDS site.

Talks by Collaborans:

  • "The location-aware desktop": Pierre-Luc Beaudoin (with Henri Bergius) did a talk about libchamplain and Geoclue, and how to make a location-aware desktop.  Schedule items (1, 2), slides as PDF.

  • "How to play libnice-ly with your NAT," a talk about our firewall punching library libnice, by Youness El Alaoui.  Slides as PDF.

  • "Introduction to GStreamer development Tutorial" by Wim Taymans. Schedule item.

  • "Tools for Authoring Awesome Docs" by Danielle Madeley. Schedule item.

We also held a party on the roof of a Las Palmas country club. Hundreds of attendees from the KDE and GNOME communities enjoyed music, an open bar, great weather, and conversation. Several even got free Collabora shirts!

We hope to see you again at next year's GUADEC!
